February 4 - "Tail" is almost gone

So not much going on lately. Sleeping is much enjoyed and the past few nights, I've made it without a potty break, which is awesome! :) Trying not to lift anything too heavy, rest as much as I can, drink as many liquids as possible (and not too close to bedtime)....

Our baby is now 5/8 of an inch long, about the size of a kidney bean. New this week: webbed fingers and toes are poking out from our baby's hands and feet, eyelids practically cover the eyes, breathing tubes extend from the throat to the branches of the developing lungs and the "tail" is just about gone. Arms have lengthened too, and hands are now flexed at the wrist and meet over the heart. The knee joints have formed and the feet may be long enough to meet in front of the body. In the brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another forming primitive neural pathways.

At 8 weeks, our baby can bend his elbows and knees.

Three more days until we go for our first doctor's appointment. Oh my goodess...I can't believe it! It seemed like February was so far away when I first called to make an appointment. Please send prayers that we like our obstetrician and we hear a good, solid heartbeat from the little one!!!
